There's a bunch of material that was recorded prior to the release of the very first cassette, "Significant Others," that was not for public consumption. Wanna talk about lo-fi? That was lo-fi stuff. There's a rehearsal tape from around mid-1986 when Eberle and Jones teamed up with Mark Enloe (drums) and Bernie Proeschl (guitar) to play live (one memorable rehearsal involved Nick Rudd).

Should anyone want to know, the initial recordings, up to and including "Burying the Carnival," were made by bouncing tracks back and forth between a Pioneer consumer reel-to-reel deck and a Sony stereo cassette deck in a smallish living room. From "Susan Sleepwalking" on recordings were made on a Tascam 244 cassette four-track usually in a hallway and closet. And "Promise" was recorded on a Fostex Model 80 reel-to-reel 8-track multitrack deck, synced to an Atari ST computer running Hybrid Arts' SMPTETrack software in a proper bedroom.
